The Heartbake: Gorgeous Cinnamon Rolls

Hey there and welcome to our fifth entry of The Heartbake: Baking My Way Through Heartbreak!

These week was long and exhausting, but it was very relaxing to finally get to bake. In honor of Valentine’s Day, I made these pretty pink Cinnamon Rolls!

Some people might not agree with me, but Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love all of the funny cliches and I just love love! I think even if you aren’t with someone, you can still celebrate the holiday. You can celebrate yourself or someone else you love. It’s always fun to treat yourself!

This week I am so excited to share this amazing Cinnamon Roll recipe! I even topped them with our Soda-licious Sprinkle Mix! I hope you enjoy them! Thank you and remember, Stay Tasty!💜😋

xoxo Lyla

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 1 cup of milk (warmed)
  • 1 packet of active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
  • 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 3 cups of all purpose flour

For the filling:

  • 1/2 cup of unsalted, melted butter
  • 1 cup of light brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons of cinnamon

For the frosting:

  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 ounces of cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of milk
  • Food coloring (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the milk, yeast, sugar, salt, butter, and egg.
  2. Add in the flour slowly, about one cup at a time while mixing in between each addition. Add more flour by the tablespoon if necessary. The dough should not stick to your fingers.
  3. Grease a large bowl and place the dough into the bowl to rise for about an hour.
  4. For the filling: melt the butter in a cup o bowl, add in your brown sugar and cinnamon and mix until combined.
  5. Take your dough and place it on a greased surface. Roll it into a 12x18 inch rectangle.
  6. Spread your filling on top of the dough and tightly roll it up.
  7. Use a knife to cut the dough into 12 even rolls.
  8. Grease a 9x13 inch pan and place the rolls in the pan. Cover them with a towel and let the rolls rise for about 30 more minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  10. Bake for 22-25 minutes or until they are just starting to brown.
  11. For the frosting: in a stand mixer, combine your softened cream cheese and butter.
  12. Add in the powdered sugar slowly and mix on low.
  13. Add in the milk and vanilla extract. Add food coloring if you’d like.
  14. Spread the frosting on top of the rolls and enjoy!
